It's calculated by comparing the number \n                of teeth on the spur gear with the teeth on the pinion. \u003c\/p\u003e\n              \u003cp\u003e\n                Okay, here's the fun part. A higher first number means more power \n                to accelerate, but less top-end speed. A lower first number means \n                more top-end speed, but less power for acceleration. So the 6:1 \n                gear ratio would give you killer speed, but the 12:1 would give \n                you very good acceleration power.\u003c\/p\u003e\n              \u003cp\u003e Two points. The first is that you can't have maximum power and \n                maximum speed at the same time; you gotta choose how much of each \n                you want. The second is, you \u003ci\u003ecan\u003c\/i\u003e choose. By combining different \n                spur gears and pinions, you can performance \"tune\" your \n                R\/C MicroSizers to the combination of power and speed that's best. \n                What's best depends on your driving style, what kind of driving \n                you'll be doing and on the surface you're driving on. \u003c\/p\u003e\n              \u003cp\u003e \u003cb\u003e\u003cfont size=\"+1\"\u003eGear, Spur\u003c\/font\u003e\u003c\/b\u003e - The largest gear, \n                and the one which arrives already installed on the rear axle. \n                The spur gear passes power from the idler gear to the wheels, \n                so you can peel out fast! \u003c\/p\u003e\n              \u003cp\u003e \u003cb\u003e\u003cfont size=\"+1\"\u003eHeat Sink\u003c\/font\u003e\u003c\/b\u003e - When you send electricity \n                through a wire, you always have less at the end than you did at \n                the start. Why? Because some of the energy is used to overcome \n                the \u003ci\u003eresistance\u003c\/i\u003e in the wire. This creates heat. With me \n                so far?\u003c\/p\u003e\n              \u003cp\u003e\n                Okay. Now, there's wire in your R\/C MicroSizers motor. Electricity \n                (from the battery) goes through it. Therefore, your motor creates \n                heat. \u003c\/p\u003e\n              \u003cp\u003e The problem is, heat is a Bad Thing for motors. A hot motor \n                won't run as well or last as long as one which isn't hot. The \n                motor can get rid of heat by \u003ci\u003eradiation\u003c\/i\u003e. Heat radiates from \n                the wires to the motor's metal \"can\" (case); passing \n                air helps carry the heat out and away.\u003c\/p\u003e\n              \u003cp\u003e However, the \"can\" is pretty small, and heat can builds \n                up fast.
